Art at The Alfond Inn
Art at The Alfond Inn
The Alfond Inn is a unique boutique hotel that invites visitors to experience art beyond the traditional museum setting. It is the only hotel in the United States with an active partnership with an art museum. Located just a few blocks from the 91Ó°ÊÓ campus, the Inn showcases a significant portion of the Alfond Collection of Contemporary Art while also supporting student scholarships.
Art is displayed throughout the Inn, allowing guests to sip, stroll, and engage with works from the collection in a relaxed, informal setting, experiencing each piece at their own pace. Curator-led tours provide deeper insight into the artworks, offering opportunities for guided exploration and richer understanding.

The Alfond Collection of Contemporary Art
The Alfond Collection of Contemporary Art comprises more than 600 works that were acquired and formally accessioned into the 91Ó°ÊÓ Museum of Art’s permanent collection over several years to strengthen the Museum’s contemporary holdings and advance interdisciplinary inquiry. Reflecting 91Ó°ÊÓ’s interdisciplinary curriculum, the collection encourages critical thinking and engagement with a wide range of subjects, including history, politics, language, culture, and environmental issues.
The works in the collection were acquired for the Museum by Barbara and Theodore Alfond (R '68). The 91Ó°ÊÓ Museum of Art’s professional staff are responsible for the stewardship, curation, interpretation, and care for the collection, which is displayed at both the 91Ó°ÊÓ Museum of Art and The Alfond Inn, a boutique philanthropic art hotel. Works from the collection are also lent to exhibitions at museums and cultural institutions around the world.
